State construction and infrastructure firm PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has begun operating the Palembang toll junction in South Sumatra, aiming to improve connectivity between toll road sections in the region.

The operation, effective April 3, follows a decree from the Public Works Ministry.

The junction includes Ramp 5 (Betung–Indralaya), Ramp 6 (Betung–Palembang), and Ramp 8 (Palembang–Kayu Agung). Several other ramps had already been in operation, while additional ramps are scheduled to open alongside the Palembang–Betung toll road.

Acting Executive Vice President Corporate Secretary Hamdani said the junction is expected to improve travel efficiency by enabling more direct routes without exiting the toll road.

“With the operation of the Palembang Junction, connectivity between toll road sections in the Palembang area will improve, allowing users to travel more efficiently through directly connected routes,” he said.

The company said the integrated junction is expected to streamline travel across key routes, including connections from Kramasan to Indralaya, Prabumulih, Palembang, and Kayu Agung.

Following integration, toll tariffs have been set, including Rp9,000 ($0.53) for Kramasan–Pemulutan (Class I), Rp4,500 ($0.26) for Kramasan–Palembang (Class I), and Rp51,000 ($3.00) for Palembang–Kayu Agung Utama (Class I).

Higher tariffs apply for other vehicle classes and longer routes, including up to Rp222,500 ($13.09) for Class V vehicles traveling from Kramasan to Prabumulih.
