The government has asked miners to submit proposal of projects aimed to increase the value-added of coal and mineral commodities ahead of the implementation of the planned export ban on raw materials by 2014.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik said that the government would give sanctions to companies that fail to submit the proposal, but he did not elaborate on the sanctions.

?Unfortunately, only a few companies which have submitted the proposal so far,? he told reporters on Monday, adding that the proposal should consist of among others the capacity of the planned processing plant and smelter.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister had earlier issued regulation No 7/2012 stipulating prohibition of export and requirement to process or purify the mineral and coal commodities to increase their added value.

Under the regulation, all metal?based and non-metal based mineral commodities should be processed to their minimum form of processed product.
