Govt imposes 20% export duty on 65 mineral ores

Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo has issued a new regulation imposing 20 percent export tax for 65 unprocessed mining products or ores in a bid to support the government program to increase added-value of minerals through process of refining.
Of the 65 ores, 21 are from metallic ores such as unprocessed iron pyrites, copper ores, nickel ores, manganese ores, aluminium ores, lead ores, zink ores, gold ores, silver ores and cobalt ores.
The Ministerial Regulation No. 75/2012 which became effective as of May 16, also lists 10 non metallic mineral and rocks to be subjected to the 20 percent export duty.
The regulation also stipulates the export duty on cocoa, crude palm oil and its derivatives.
