Govt obliges mining industry to use biofuel

The government has recently obliged 25 coal and mineral mining companies to use 2 percent bio fuels (bahan bakar nabati) in their operation starting July 1, 2012.

The decision was stated by Bio-energy Director of the Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy of the Ministry of Industry, Maritje Hutapea during the Mandatory Implementation of Biofuel Adoption Meeting on Thursday.

The meeting was initially scheduled to map the allocation of fuel supply from fuels and biofuels production license holders to the mining industry and their transportation needs, including the locations of mines to be supplied and available fuel depots.

The 25 companies are Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), Adaro Indonesia, Indominco Mandiri, Arutmin Indonesia, Berau Coal, Kideco Jaya Agung, Wahana Baratama Mining, Mahakam Sumber Jaya, Trubaindo Coal Mining, Gunung Bayan Pratamacoal, Tanito Harum, Mandiri Intiperkasa, Asmin Koalindo Tuhup, Perkasa Inakakerta, Baramarta, Riau Bara Harum, Teguh Sinar Abadi, Multi Harapan Utama, Insani Bara Perkasa, Santan Batubara, Sumber Kurnia Buana, Lanna Harita Indonesia, Tanjung Alam Jaya and Singlurus Pratama
