The government insisted that the planned export duty on mineral ores would be issued before May 6, arguing it as efforts to control the expected massive exports on raw material.

?We are still discussing the percentage of export duty, including with Commission VII of the House of Representative, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), and customs officials under the coordination of Finance Ministry?s Fiscal Policy unit. The policy on export duty on mineral ore has to be issued before May 6,? Directorate General of coal and mineral resources at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource Thamrin Sihite told reporters.

The House's commission VII oversees mining and environmental affairs.

The fiscal policy unit earlier said that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has submitted a proposal for imposing 15 percent export duty on mineral ores.

Thamrin said that his office was still evaluating the companies that could still be allowed to export the raw material after May 6.
