Indonesia discusses logistics, port investment expansion with Swiss-based MSC Group

The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM said it has held talks with Swiss shipping and logistics company MSC Group to explore opportunities for expanding investment and potential collaboration in logistics services and port terminal infrastructure.

The meeting was conducted by the Deputy Minister for Investment Promotion at the ministry with an MSC Group delegation led by Oliver Straub, Group Director of Government Affairs, and was accompanied by representatives from the Swiss Embassy in Indonesia. The discussion took place on Tuesday at the ministry’s offices in Jakarta.

According to the ministry, the talks focused on potential areas where MSC Group could expand its footprint in Indonesia, particularly in logistics networks and port terminal facilities, in line with the country’s efforts to strengthen maritime infrastructure and improve supply chain connectivity.

MSC Group, which has operated in Indonesia since 1996, is one of the world’s largest players in shipping and logistics. The government expects the company’s continued presence and potential new investments to contribute to strengthening national capabilities and supporting Indonesia’s ambition to become a maritime hub in Southeast Asia.

The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM said it welcomed MSC Group’s expansion plans and is open to further discussions and facilitation to improve the investment climate in the logistics and port sectors, in line with growing trade volumes and the diversification of global supply chains.
