Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia held talks with Russia’s Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev on potential purchases of crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), as part of efforts to strengthen energy security.

The meeting took place in Russia on April 14 and resulted in a preliminary agreement on increasing supplies of crude oil and LPG for Indonesia’s domestic needs, Bahlil said in an official statement.

Russia expressed readiness to support Indonesia’s energy security through the supply of oil and gas, as well as the development of storage facilities.

The discussions were attended by several Russian energy companies, including Rosneft, Ruschem, Zarubezhneft, and Lukoil.

Bahlil said the cooperation would be carried out under both government-to-government and business-to-business schemes, aimed at ensuring stable energy supply, particularly for crude oil and LPG.

In addition to supply agreements, Indonesia is also exploring cooperation in crude storage development, long-term energy supply arrangements, nuclear technology, and the minerals sector.

Tsivilev said Russia is ready to expand cooperation with Indonesia across oil and gas supply, energy infrastructure development, and potential nuclear power projects.

The Indonesian government said the initiative is part of broader efforts to diversify energy sources and strengthen national energy resilience amid global market volatility.
