The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has stated that it will issue a new ministerial regulation regarding certification of mining services companies this March, hoping to elevate the competence level of national mining services companies.
"Many industry players still have doubt about the competence of national mining services companies. That is why we decided to immediately evaluate the release of this ministerial regulation," said Chief of Standardization and Coal Mineral Services Business of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Nur Hardono, in Denpasar, Bali, on Friday.
As stated within the Presidential Decree 3/2012, the government is planning to renegotiate a number of the mining contracts. Within the six items to be renegotiated is the obligation for investors to hire Indonesian workers, goods and services, making it necessary for a form of certification for the services providing companies.
"We first expected to finish the evaluation of this regulation on February this year. But we decided to wait for inputs from stakeholders first so that the regulation could take effect with the most possible acceptance by all concerned," he said.
