Indonesia’s national oil production has fallen by 15–17% to around 500,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) following a decline in output from the Rokan Block, triggered by a disruption in gas supply caused by a leak in the Grissik–Duri (GD) gas pipeline operated by PT Transportasi Gas Indonesia (TGI).
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) said the production decline occurred after gas supply to Rokan was disrupted by the pipeline leak.
“Nationally, production has dropped by around 15–17%,” said Laode Sulaeman, Director General of Oil and Gas at the ministry, speaking to Petromindo.com on Tuesday (6/1).

Laode said gas supply has been diverted from EMP Bentu to support operations, but the additional supply has not been able to fully replace Rokan’s requirements.
“This situation should not last long. In parallel, we are pushing TGI to immediately complete the repairs so gas can flow again,” he said.
Meanwhile, TGI Corporate Secretary Emil Ismail said the company is currently focusing on pipeline repairs, starting with damage identification at the site while simultaneously mobilising the required equipment.
“We are focusing on repairing the pipeline by first identifying the damage at the location. Excavation work is currently underway, along with the mobilisation of the necessary equipment and spare parts,” Emil told Petromindo.
