Ozmine 2012 to draw over 2,500 participants

Australia's mining expertise exhibition and conference, Ozmine2012 which is slated to be held in Jakarta from April 17 to April 18., is expected to draw over 2,500 trade visitors including from Australia and ASEAN countries.

The event themed ?Sustainable and Responsible Mining: ASEAN and Australia in Synergy? would bring together over 100 Australian mining-related organizations, in addition to those from Indonesia and other ASEAN countries as exhibitors.

"Some of the largest Australian mining companies will take part (in the event), together they already employ many of the million-plus Indonesian who are working in the mining industry in this country," Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Greg Moriaty told press conference.

He said that Australian companies have made long term investments in Indonesia and are committed to practice sustainable and responsible mining. "They make substantial local contributions through mining, technology transfer, dedicated education program and significant CSR program," he said.

The event which would be officially opened by Indonesia Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources, Jero Wacik and Ambassador Moriaty would discuss among others regulatory framework in mining sector, green mining developments, sustainable mining programs, CSR initiatives and mine innovation. It would also show the latest mining equipment, technology, services and consumables from the world-class Australian mining sector.

Moriaty added that the mining sector is an economic mainstay for both Indonesia and Australia.

"Mining creates hundreds of thousands of jobs, attracts important foreign direct investment and contributes billions of dollars to our economies through exports of minerals, mining services and technologies," he said.
