Pertamina's fuel pipe leaking, polluting 30 hectares of fish ponds

A fuel piping line belonging to state oil and gas company Pertamina in Makassar area, South Sulawesi, is leaking at Sungai Pampang area, and polluting a total of 30 hectares of fish ponds belonging to local people, Suara Karya reported on Saturday.
Pertamina has been using the piping line to transport fuel from Pertamina's Makassar installation in to Tello Makassar steam-powered power plant.
Because of the leaking, around 50 local farmers and environmental student activists from the Makassar Indonesian Muslim University staged a rally protesting the fuel leaking. (*)
