Australia-listed firm Sumatra Copper & Gold Plc said that the Musi Rawas regency administration in South Sumatra province had accepted the terms of reference for the AMDAL (analysis of environmental impact) of its wholly-owned Tembang gold and silver project.

The company said on Thursday that the AMDAL permit from the local government consisted of the approval of the RKL (Environmental management plan) and RPL (Environmental impact assessment).

The permit is given for the project's stage 1 and stage 2, which both have a mine life of 10 years. It is one of the key factors for developing the Tembang project, which is targeted to start production in 2013.

It reported that the RKL and RPL were currently in the final process of review and expected to be concluded in March once all formalities had been completed.

?We have had an excellent working relationship with Sumatra?s local subsidiary PT Dwinad Nusa Sejahtera since the company commenced operations here in 2006. They are a professional and competent company and we look forward to working with them to develop the Tembang mine for the mutual development of their shareholders and the local people," said Musi Rawas regent.

Sumatra Executive Director Adi Sjoekri said he highly appreciated Musi Rawas Regent for his support to Tembang project. "Tembang?s development is important for both the company and the local community and we look forward to developing this project together," he pointed out.

"We expect to receive the critical AMDAL permit in March, and will progress toward full project permitting throughout 2012,? he added.
