China's Bosai to build alumina plant in RI

China?s private mining group Bosai unveiled plans to invest US$1 billion to build an alumina plant in Indonesia with a capacity of 2 million tons per year.
General secretary, Zhang Yonghua said as quoted by morningwhistle.com said that the company has reached an initial agreement with Indonesian parties to build a 2 million ton per year alumina plant on an island with abundant bauxite resources. The plant is expected to be in production in 2 years.
Based in southwest China city Chongqing, Bosai's products enjoy markets of more than 30 countries and regions in the world and both calcined bauxite and brown fused alumina are proudly ranked No.1 in the global market.
Currently more than 80 percent of bauxite supply in China relies on imports from Indonesia which however has recently issued a series of new trade policies to restrict raw material exports.(*)
