Pertamina likely to raise fuel prices in May

State oil and gas firm Pertamina will likely raise fuel prices in May amid speculations that the increase may not be as high as in April.

?It seems that the price will have to be increased,? oil and gas director general Rachmat Sudibyo told reporters on Monday.

Industry sources said the price hike may not be as high as in April because the rise in crude prices on the world market has been offset by the strengthening of rupiah against the US dollar.

On April 1, Pertamina increased the premium price to Rp 1,600 per liter, up from Rp 1,550 in March, while the selling price for the automotive diesel oil was raised to Rp 1,250 per liter from Rp 1,150.

Gasoline for industrial buyers and ship owners was increased to Rp 1,600 per liter, kerosene Rp 1,310 per liter, automotive diesel oil Rp 1,250 per liter, industrial diesel oil Rp 1,240 per liter and bunker oil at Rp 1,030 per liter.

Meanwhile, fuel prices for mining were raised to Rp 1,740 per liter for kerosene, Rp 1,600 per liter for premium gasoline, Rp 1,700 per liter for automotive diesel oil, Rp 1,670 for industrial diesel oil and Rp 1,390 for bunker oil.

The price hike was due to the rise in crude prices on the international market. (Godang)
