PT Timah plans to produce 20,000 tons of tin in first half

State owned tin mining company PT Timah expects it will be able to produce 20,000 tons of tin during the first semester of this year, a slight increase from 18,000 tons in the same period, last year, Kontan reported on Thursday.
The company?s President Director Sukrisno said that production had begun to increase after a slight fall early this year because high sea during the period had hampered offshore production activities.
?The production declined until April. Now, it has returned to normal,? he said.
He hoped total production in the first semester would be higher because the operation of new exploration equipment in May.
High seas seriously affected Timah?s production because most of the production activities were carried out on offshore mining areas, which contribute about 70 percent of the total output. (*)
