Release: Bumi Resources closes US$800 million IndoCoal notes issue

Jakarta, Indonesia, 3 May 2006 ? PT Bumi Resources Tbk (?Bumi Resources?) announced today the closing on April 28, 2006 of the sale of US$800,000,000 7.0% structured notes due July 2006 (the ?Notes?) by IndoCoal Exports (Cayman) Limited (?IndoCoal Exports?) to refinance the redemption of the US$600,000,000 7.134% structured notes due 2012 issued by IndoCoal Exports in July 2005 and repay certain obligations of Bumi Resources and its subsidiaries and to finance the securitization of existing and future coat sate receivables of Bumi Resources? principal operating subsidiaries, PT Kaltim Prima Coal (?KPC?) and PT Arutmin Indonesia (?Arutmin?). The Notes have been structured as a financing bridge to the closing of Bumi Resources? divestment of KPC, Arutmin and other related coal assets announced in March 2006 (the ?Divestment?) which was announced by Bumi Resources on March 16, 2006. The Notes were hilly underwritten by Credit Suisse, which acted as the sole arranger and bookrunner in the syndication of the Notes to investors.
Bumi Resources is the largest coal mining and exporting company in Indonesia. Its coal mining operations are conducted through its two main subsidiaries, Arutmin and KPC located in South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan, respectively. Both subsidiaries operate open cut mining and have their own cost processing facilities, including off-loading coal port facilities. Bumi Resources is currently listed on the Jakarta and Surabaya Stock Exchanges. (end of release)
