Indonesia’s 2026 quota for rooftop solar power installations has been fully utilized, with authorities preparing to add up to 500 MW to meet strong demand.
The Indonesian Solar Energy Association (AESI) said the current quota of 485 MW has been exhausted, with a waiting list of around 200 MW.
“The 485 MW quota has been fully taken up, and there is already a 200 MW waiting list. We expect an additional 400–500 MW to be proposed,” AESI Chairperson Mada Ayu Habsari said to Bloomberg Technoz on Friday.

She noted that rooftop solar demand in Indonesia has remained consistently strong year-on-year, despite fluctuations in fossil fuel markets.
Data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) show that installed rooftop solar capacity reached 538.46 MWp as of July 2025, up from 495 MWp in June, reflecting monthly growth of 8.78%.
The number of users also increased to 10,882 customers, up 1.7% month-on-month.
The government is targeting a total rooftop solar capacity of 2 GW by 2028, with the majority—around 1.85 GW—expected to be installed in Java, Madura and Bali, followed by smaller allocations across other regions.
