The Martabe Gold Mine, located in South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, operates across 646.08 hectares as of December 2024. Since production began on 24 July 2012, the mine has processed over 6 million tonnes of ore annually, producing more than 200,000 ounces of gold and 1–2 million ounces of silver annually.
The Martabe Gold Mine operates under a 30-year Contract of Work (CoW) with the Indonesian Government. Initially spanning 6,560 km² in 1997, the concession area has been refined to 130,252 hectares (1,303 km²), encompassing South Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, North Tapanuli and Mandailing Natal Regencies.
As of June 2024, the mine’s mineral resources were estimated at 6.1 million ounces of gold and 59 million ounces of silver, while ore reserves were calculated at 3.2 million ounces of gold and 32 million ounces of silver.
The Martabe Gold Mine is currently seeking a qualified professional to join our MPDSE Department Team, supporting the enhancement of departmental capabilities and the achievement of strategic objectives.
GEOLOGIST - EXPLORATION (EXP 2508038)
This position will be based on the Martabe Gold Mine Site, within the Exploration Department, and will report directly to the Project Geologist.
The Geologist – Exploration is responsible for providing leadership and technical management to ensure that the Company’s exploration programs are effectively developed and implemented. This role requires a high level of geological expertise and practical decision-making to deliver exploration outcomes that are technically sound, cost-effective, and aligned with corporate objectives. The Geologist – Exploration will also ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with industry best practices in health, safety, environment, and community relations.
Candidates for this position are expected to meet the following qualifications and criteria:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Geology.
2. Proficiency in geological software such as MapInfo, ioGAS, Leapfrog, and Micromine for data processing and analysis.
3. Minimum 3 years of experience in gold and base metals exploration.
4. Broad knowledge of deposit styles, exploration methods, and technologies across various terrains.
5. Hands-on experience in epithermal Au-Ag and porphyry Cu-Au exploration.
6. Strong ability in rock and mineral identification, geological mapping, sampling, data recording, and logging techniques.
7. Proven experience in establishing and managing projects and exploration teams in remote locations with limited supervision.
8. Ability to perform effectively under challenging conditions and resource constraints.
9. Demonstrated leadership skills with the capability to drive exploration programs and deliver measurable results.
