The Martabe Gold Mine, located in South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, operates across 646.08 hectares as of December 2024. Since production began on 24 July 2012, the mine has processed over 6 million tonnes of ore annually, producing more than 200,000 ounces of gold and 1–2 million ounces of silver annually.
The Martabe Gold Mine operates under a 30-year Contract of Work (CoW) with the Indonesian Government. Initially spanning 6,560 km² in 1997, the concession area has been refined to 130,252 hectares (1,303 km²), encompassing South Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, North Tapanuli and Mandailing Natal Regencies.
As of June 2024, the mine’s mineral resources were estimated at 6.1 million ounces of gold and 59 million ounces of silver, while ore reserves were calculated at 3.2 million ounces of gold and 32 million ounces of silver.
The Martabe Gold Mine is seeking applications from qualified professionals to join our Martabe Project Development Study and Execution (MPDSE) team. This role is designed to strengthen departmental expertise and support the achievement of our strategic objectives.
SUPERINTENDENT – TECHNICAL SERVICES (MPDSE 2509048)
This position will be based at the Martabe Gold Mine Site within the MPDSE Department, with direct reporting to the Manager - Technical Services.
The Superintendent – Technical Services will work closely with the Manager – Technical Services, providing essential technical data and project support across mining feasibility studies and operational initiatives. The incumbent will ensure that all studies and projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the required technical standards, while also serving as the Manager’s delegate when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver technical data and analysis to support ongoing and upcoming projects, including mine design, sequencing, work methods, and scheduling.
• Contribute to feasibility studies by providing mining and metallurgical inputs for resource-to-reserve conversion.
• Support the annual reserve update process by integrating the latest drilling results and cost parameters for internal and regulatory reporting.
• Participate in LOM (Life-of-Mine) strategic planning to sustain 7 Mtpa production, aligned with available waste and tailings capacity.
• Collaborate with MPDSE teams (Study, Planning, Execution) and other stakeholders in the development of tailings and waste facilities.
• Facilitate effective cross-departmental communication (Processing, Projects, Mine Operations, TSF) to ensure alignment of plans and execution schedules.
• Act as deputy to the Technical Services Manager, managing technical deliverables across multiple projects.
Applicants for this position are required to fulfill the following qualifications and criteria:
1. Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or civil engineering, with a strong background in long-term mine planning.
2. Minimum of 8 years’ experience in mine planning, technical services, or related fields.
3. In-depth knowledge of feasibility studies, mine design, and reserve reporting.
4. Proven experience in developing mining cost models and budgets.
5. Proficiency in mine planning software, including Surpac (design and modelling), Minesched (scheduling), and Whittle (pit optimization).
6. Demonstrated ability to coordinate across multiple departments and manage competing technical priorities.
7. Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
8. Holder of a POM Certification.
9. (Desirable) Familiarity with national and international standards for open-cut development, waste rock dumps, and landfill sites.
10. (Desirable) Certified Competent Person (CP) for Ore Reserve Reporting under KCMI/BNSP Standards.
