Eddie Widiono, the president director of the state owned electricity company, was questioned by the Jakarta police for almost seven hours on Thursday as a witness in an alleged corruption involving a number of the company's top executives, Kompas reported Friday.

The probe against Widiono was the third time since he was summoned by the police early this week as a witness in the alleged manipulation in the procurement of an electricity generator set for the company's power plant in Borang, Palembang, South Sumatra.

The police have earlier arrested PLN's director for power generation and primary energy Ali Herman Ibrahim, PLN's deputy director for power generation Agus Darmadi and businessman John Kennedy for their alleged involvement in the corruption.

The arrests were made following the disclosure of an alleged manipulation on the procurement of one of power generation machines for the Borang gas power plant in 2004.

According to the finding made the state audit agency BPK, the price of the facility had been marked up causing losses of about US$13.164 million or about Rp 122 billion to the state. (*)
