Control Room Operator
The Control Room operator is responsible for carrying out his work in handling copper concentrate processing equipment through a control system (generally referred to as DCS) in achieving predetermined production targets safely (safe production). The Operator Control Room turns on, shuts down, monitors performance, and adjusts a series of processing equipment parameters through the system. There are several factory areas whose control will be carried out through the Control Room by each Control Room Operator for that area, such as Flash Smelting Furnace (FSF), Flash Converting Furnace (FCF), Acid Plant, Refinery, Slag Concentrator/Utilities, and PMR.
These positions will report to the Supervisor Control Room.
Main Jobs and responsibilities of this position:
1. Occupational Safety and Environmental Aspects
2. Comply with all K3 regulations and environmental management in their work area, including the use of designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
3. Carry out all directed K3 programs.
4. Carry out the Fatal Risk Management process as hazard mitigation, especially the application of standardized hazard controls at work.
5. Follow K3 directions (Safety talk) and Environmental directives before starting work or whenever given by the Team Leader or Supervisor.
6. Able to stop a job if there is a hazard that has not been properly controlled, adding appropriate controls, before starting work again.
7. Discipline to the standard work procedures (SOP) that have been set.
8. Able to communicate deficiencies of K3 matters found, including evaluation of standard work procedures, unsafe conditions, and unsafe behavior.
9. Discipline, maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
10. Conduct inspections of safety equipment in the area (APAR, Emergency Lights, Handrail, etc.)
Operational
1. Controlling tools and a series of tools through the Control Room through the Siemens PCS7 process control system. Work closely with supervisors and operators in the field to ensure equipment is operated safely within appropriate parameters.
2. Coordinate effectively with Operator Control Room in other factory areas, Operators in the field, with team members from other departments (maintenance, technical service, etc.) in carrying out their work.
3. Supervising (monitoring) various relevant parameters of processing and tools through charts and trends. Provide clear instructions to operators in the field if there are parameters that are outside the safe/optimal range.
4. Fully support emergency recovery efforts. Controlling the tool during an emergency situation where dexterity in reacting and performing many actions simultaneously. Able to analyze situations quickly and accurately, then make appropriate decisions to secure the safety of workers in the field and equipment.
5. Supervise production achievements both in terms of production quantity and product quality and inform the production achievements effectively to operational teams in the field, as well as superiors, engineers, and management.
6. Fill in the Log Sheet with operational data records for factory equipment in the field.
7. Report to superiors proactively to convey the condition of processes and equipment.
8. Working according to the current shift, the factory operates 24 hours per day.
9. Perform field inspections and support daily maintenance activities. Maintain a safe and tidy work area and report damage, incidents and unsafe conditions.
10. Provide work activity reports (logbook).
11. Following directions for changing shifts (pre-shift meeting).
12. Participate in shutdown/start up activities.
13. Perform work in accordance with standard procedures that have been given (SOP).
14. Perform initial inspection of equipment both operating and not operating at the factory.
15. Applying systematic problem-solving techniques to complex operations.
16. Train others for operator duties and may be asked to fill in Supervisor role in absence.
Main challenges in this position:
• Time management, carrying out various steps at the same time (multi-tasking), working shift schedules, effective communication in Indonesian and English, working with many people from various backgrounds, hot and humid working conditions , physical work (fatigue management), physical work in the factory area.
Desired Qualifications:
Education, Certification, and Experience
• Minimum high school/vocational high school diploma or equivalent, with experience working as a Control Room Operator in the mineral, metal or chemical processing industry for more than 3 years (junior) or 8 years (senior).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
• Experience in safe practice of operating tools and a series of tools through the Control Room for each area below:
• Materials Handling & Slag Concentrator
Conveyors, Trippers, Belt Feeders, Jaw Crushers, SAG Mills, Ball Mills, Flotation, Thickeners, Filter Presses, Centrifugal Pumps
Hot Metals : Pneumatic Conveying, Steam dryer, Smelting Furnace, Waste Heat Boiler, Granulation, Electrostatic Precipitator, Cooling Systems, Anode Furnace, Anode Casting Wheel, Shaft Furnace
Acid Plant and Effluent Treatment Plant : Quench Towers, Scrubbers, Converters, Heat Exchangers, Centrifugal Pumps, Blowers, Adsorption Towers, Thickeners, Filter Presses
Refinery : Anode Preparation Machine, Electrolytic Refining, Centrifugal Pumps, Acid Solution Circulation System, Precipitation Processes, Cathode Stripping
